In the South of France, in the beautiful Languedoc-Roussillon region, you will find in the countryside of the Gard the old village of St. Marcel de Careiret. A quiet village with 634 inhabitants, where close to the Bar de Midi on the small sunny village square, there are an épicerie for your daily needs and a boulangerie/pâtisserie with fresh baguettes and croissants every day. Situated one kilometer from the village is our house, surrounded by vineyards. On the ground floor we have created a spacious and cosy gîte with all luxury and comfort for couples or a family up to six persons. In this particularly sunny valley between the green hills, you can enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside, as well as the lovely French wines. Local wine co-operatives are nearby for the essential warm red and cool rosé wines. The local wine is notionally within the Côtes du Rhône wine region. More extensive shopping can be done in the markets and supermarkets of nearby Alès, Uzès (Wednesday & especially Saturday) or Barjac (Friday). A visit to at least one of these markets is a "must do". If you love good food, wonderful scenery with a great climate and are thinking of a vacation in the South of France then this is the region for you. Welcome in our gîte! |
